Privacy Policy
Clubday helps a book club choose books, read together and meet. We collect only what the club needs to work. Here is, in plain words, what is stored, where, and how to delete it.
Who is responsible
The developer of Clubday, Tynk Studio. For any question about your data, write to tynkprojects@gmail.com.
No sign-up
Clubday does not ask for your email or phone number and does not use Sign in with Apple or Google. On first launch your phone creates a random key and keeps it in secure storage (iOS Keychain or Android Keystore). The server knows you only by this key and by the name you choose.
What is stored on the server
- the name you entered, your role in the club and when you joined;
- what you add to the club: books, the club library, reading progress, notes (private notes are visible only to you, club notes to club members), comments, announcements, RSVPs, “who brings what”, votes;
- open votes are linked to your name, anonymous votes are stored without any link to you;
- meeting details: date, place, address, map link or video call link;
- book files uploaded by the organizer (deleted the day after the meeting about the book, or after 30 days if no meeting was set);
- reports and blocks, notification settings, time of last visit.
Location
The app asks for location access only when an organizer taps “I am here now” while setting a meeting. The coordinates become a map link visible to club members. We do not use or store your location in any other way.
Book search
A search query goes to our server and from there to open catalogs (Wikipedia, Wikidata, Open Library, Google Books). No information about you is sent with it. Covers are loaded from Open Library and Google Books.
What we don't do
- no ads and no advertising identifiers;
- no third-party analytics or tracking;
- we do not sell or share your data with third parties.
Where data is stored
On our own server at Hetzner Online GmbH in a data center in Finland (European Union). The connection is encrypted (HTTPS). Backups are kept for 30 days.
Who sees your data
Club content is visible only to its members. Private notes are visible only to you. Nobody sees an anonymous vote, including the organizer.
Retention and deletion
Data is kept while you are in the club. Past books stay in the club's history. If you leave or are removed, your club notes, progress and open votes stay in the club's history without your name. You can delete everything about yourself at any time: Settings → Delete my data. Your name, club membership, notes, progress, votes and comments are removed from the server immediately and from backups within 30 days. If you no longer have the app, write to tynkprojects@gmail.com with the club name and your name in it.
Your rights
You can ask what data we keep about you, correct it, delete it or get a copy. Just write to us. If you live in the EU, you may also contact your local data protection authority.
Children
Clubday is not intended for children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date above. We will tell you about important changes in the app.
